We were recently commissioned to do a conceptual design project of converting the structure of an existing town house into a commercial strip. We not only wanted to preserve as much of the existing structure as possible, but also wanted to expose and highlight the concrete columns.

From afar, the structure glows underneath a striking concrete parapet which sweeps throughout the building, while a large roof unites all the spaces. What used to be the driveway is now space for al fresco dining and a stairway lit by a skylight above. Wooden elements and pocket landscapes are added to add softness and warmth to the spaces.
