Located within Cempark in Cebu City, Philippines, the 10-by-10-meter mausoleum is shaped around the idea of journey. Layers of cast-in-place concrete overlap to form a sequence of spaces—an outer wall that frames the approach and a higher inner wall that conceals and gradually reveals the interior.
The design plays with flow and stillness.
A curved path guides visitors inward, its gentle arc softening the movement and allowing energy to slow down. The space then opens into a still, rectangular court where the urns rest. It is stability and calmness held inside motion. At the far end, the urn wall forms a gentle terminus—grounding the movement and holding the space in calm.
Raw materials define the experience: concrete, cobblestones, and ara-al stone mark each threshold and shift in function. The aluminum urn wall contrasts the heaviness of stone—its light, reflective surface suggesting spirit and continuity. Materials are left to age naturally, allowing the space to show signs of life over time. The landscape remains organic yet ordered, with grass, pebbles, and scattered greens softening the hard edges.
Visitors move through a dynamic, meandering entry and arrive at a still inner court—a quiet place of memory and reflection.
